Mid-Year School Holidays in May 2020
A big thank you for the effort in supporting your children through Full Home-Based Learning. With the May holidays coming up, we hope this gives you an opportunity to find new ways to spend time and strengthen the bonds with your children while staying safe at home.
This issue of Parent Kit provides tips on how to occupy your child’s time meaningfully during this school holiday and how you can foster stronger relationships within the family. Do also look out for a Holiday Care Pack that your child should have received from his/her teacher.
As announced by MOE, the mid-year school holidays will be from 5 May 2020 (Tue) to 1 June 2020 (Mon). The first two weeks will be protected time for our teachers to rest and recharge. In the third and fourth week of the May holidays, the school will invite students in the graduating cohorts (Sec 4 and 5) to return to school for coaching and consultations with teachers. Priority will be given to students who will be sitting for the Mid-year Mother Tongue Language exams, those who require school facilities for coursework and practical sessions, as well as those who need additional supporting and remediation. To ensure safety of everyone, their return to school will be done in a calibrated manner with ample safe distancing. The school is currently planning for the timetable for this and we will share more details when we are able to do so.
On a related note, in view of the upcoming school holidays, Singaporeans are advised to defer all travel abroad. Please refer to the MOH Travel Advisory issued on 18 March 2020:
Let’s continue to do our part to fight the virus as we stay home, stay safe and stay curious this season!
With warm regards
